Engineers at one of the world’s best known pneumatic dispensing
companies said it couldn’t be done, but we built a machine that
simultaneously dispenses 81 perfectly uniform drops of glue. The
dispenser is spring-loaded so nozzles will clear components during
positioning, then lower to dispense glue directly to the mounting
board. Shots are timed to 1/100 second precision for repeatable drop
volume. We coupled total cycle times of less than 10 seconds with
ancillary tooling for semi-automated component alignment to bring the
cost of this hand made product for math education into an economically
feasible range.
